What will you be doing in your role?

New Community Pipeline Development & External Outreach

  • Serve as the organization’s lead external presence focused on identifying and engaging new individuals and networks aligned with the mission.
  • Maintain a consistent, active presence in community settings such as Rotary clubs, chambers of commerce, professional associations, civic gatherings, and other influence-driven forums.
  • Proactively introduce new individuals to the organization’s mission, impact, and opportunities for involvement.
  • Build a robust and diverse pipeline of potential supporters—including individual donors, corporate influencers, foundation contacts, civic and city leaders, and community champions.
  • Act as a trusted first point of connection, ensuring new relationships are welcomed, informed, and thoughtfully cultivated.

Individual Relationship Building & Engagement Pathways

  • Develop strong personal relationships with community members who may become donors, volunteers, advisors, advocates, or connectors.
  • Identify each individual’s interests, influence, expertise, and capacity, and connect them to appropriate engagement opportunities and team members.
  • Guide individuals along a continuum of engagement—awareness → involvement → investment—working closely with Advancement colleagues to ensure smooth hand-offs and stewardship.
  • Support the growth of individual giving by cultivating relationships that naturally progress toward philanthropic support.
  • Ensure new supporters feel valued, informed, and connected to the mission from their first interaction.

Mission Awareness & KNOW Poverty Leadership

  • Lead KNOW Poverty engagement efforts that educate and inspire community members about the realities of poverty and the organization’s role in addressing it.
  • Serve as a compelling storyteller and ambassador, translating impact into language that resonates with new audiences.
  • Represent the organization at presentations, networking events, panels, and community conversations.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to align messaging and outreach efforts with pipeline building- goals.

L ead, Manage, and drive Accountability (LMA)

  • Provide leadership and management to Engagement Specialist and Volunteer Specialist.
  • Lead, manage and hold team accountable for program and agency goals.
  • Build a unified culture of excellence grounded in mission, vision, values, and accountability.
  • Drive forward EOS implementation within the unit.

Engagement Operations & Experience Excellence

  • Ensure external outreach and relationship building efforts are supported by strong internal coordination and follow-through.
  • Track engagement activity, relationship movement, and pipeline growth in partnership with the Advancement team.
  • Use data and insights to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for expanding the pipeline.
  • Maintain excellence in volunteer engagement by connecting new individuals to meaningful, mission aligned- service opportunities.
  • Support engagement staff and cross functional- partners to ensure consistent, high quality- experience for all new supporters.

Are you the next Community Engagement Director?

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in community engagement, relationship based- fundraising, advancement, or external relations.
  • Proven ability to build new relationships and networks within a community.
  • Strong interpersonal presence with the ability to engage effectively with executives, civic leaders, donors, and community.
  • Brillant storyteller who is able to engage various audiences with compelling messaging about CCFW.
  • Experience translating relationships into tangible organizational outcomes.
  • Deep commitment to mission driven, community centered- work.

  • Full-Time salaried position. Pay is determined by relevant experience, work history, education and internal equities.
