The Clinical Nurse role in the Radiation Oncology outpatient department supports the delivery of evidence-based care across the continuum of treatment. This area provides coordinated, patient-centered services for individuals receiving radiation therapy and requires strong clinical judgment, efficiency in a fast-paced clinic, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate will be a licensed Registered Nurse with a BSN, at least three years of nursing experience in inpatient or outpatient settings, strong triage and workflow-management skills, and adaptability in a high-volume clinical environment. Oncology experience and certification are preferred.

Salary Range-Minimum $32.69 - Midpoint $50.48 - Maximum $68.27

Shift Timing- The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM-6:30 PM, with rotations between opening shifts (7:00 AM-3:30 PM) and closing shifts (8:00 AM until the last patient is seen).

Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Practice

Deliver evidence-based, quality nursing care consistent with the Professional Practice Model and unit standards.
Coordinate and implement patient care across the continuum from assessment through evaluation.
Triage patients effectively and manage clinical workflows in a fast-paced outpatient environment.

Participate in daily unit operations to meet financial and resource-management goals.
Collaborate with the Charge Nurse, Clinical Nurse Leader, and Nurse Manager to anticipate and address patient and family needs.
Foster peer relationships and provide coaching, mentoring, and training to team members.
Communicate effectively with leaders, disciplines, staff, patients, and families to support optimal outcomes.

The primary purpose of the Outpatient Clinical Nurse position is to coordinate and implement patient care across the continuum of care. The Outpatient Clinical Nurse in RadOnc is accountable and responsible for providing quality, evidence-based patient care through the appropriate use of resources in collaboration with the inter-professional team. Acts as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights. Organizes and prioritizes work of patient care team; trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.

EDUCATION
  • Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Nursing.
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Required: 2 years of Nursing Experience
  • Preferred: a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } A minimum of two years of inpatient experience is preferred. The individual should be comfortable performing peripheral intravenous (PIV) access and accessing implanted ports (PAC).
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Required: RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license. Upon Hire and
  • Required: BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire or
  • Required: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Upon Hire and
  • Preferred: OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification Certification in specialty practice area. Upon Hire
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
