We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounts Payable Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity in the South Houston area. This role will support our finance team by managing the full cycle of accounts payable functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in payments, and maintaining positive relationships with vendors. This position will be responsible for AP from Check runs to 3 way PO matching. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of the nuances and complexities involved in handling payables in this sector.

• Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
• Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoices and expense reports and recording entries
• Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities; verifying Federal ID numbers; scheduling and preparing checks; resolving purchase order, contract, invoice or payment discrepancies and documentation; insuring credit is received for outstanding memos; issuing stop payments or purchase order amendments
• Pays employees by receiving and verifying expense reports and requests for advances, preparing checks
• Maintains account ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions
• Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions
• Maintains historical records and filing documents
• Reporting sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices
• Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
• Performs additional related duties as requested and required
• Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completed related results as needed

Qualifications

• A minimum of 4 years working in Accounts Payable, preferably within a manufacturing environment
• Tracking Budget Expenses
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (vendor relationships)
• Strong team player
• Excellent organization skills
• Good problem analysis and problem resolution skills
• Proficient computer skills and good data entry skills
• Results oriented while maintaining attention to detail
• ERP Experience – Epicor A+
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required
