The Benefits Administrator is a key member of our People and Culture team, and will manage the day-to-day operations of our benefits programs—from health, dental, and vision coverage to retirement plans, flexible spending, and leave management. You'll ensure employees receive top-notch support while keeping us compliant and competitive.
Requested Tasks
- Develop a strategic approach to Makeready's benefits program and the execution of these strategies in partnership with the VP of People and Culture.
- Manage enrollments, changes, COBRA, terminations, and claims with accuracy and efficiency
- Oversee FMLA, ADA, and other leave programs; ensure compliance with federal and state laws
- Maintain benefits data in HRIS/payroll systems and perform regular audits
- Analyze usage, costs, and trends to support strategic improvements
- Lead annual open enrollment, including communication and system updates
- Serve as a go-to expert for employee benefit questions and vendor coordination
- Partner with providers, negotiate plans, and evaluate offerings for value and effectiveness
Requested Qualifications and Capabilities
- 3–5 years of experience in benefits administration (including FMLA/LOA)
- Solid knowledge of ACA, COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, and Section 125
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; HRIS and benefits system experience
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills—you can explain complex benefits clearly
- Experience evaluating vendors, RFPs, and plan designs
