HR Business Partner Labor Relations ADA Specialist

The Harris Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced HR Business Partner Labor Relations ADA Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in labor relations, mediation, employment law, and the interactive accommodation process. This role will involve partnering with business leaders to develop and implement HR strategies that support the overall business objectives with a primary focus on labor relations, employment law and management of the internal ADA Interactive Accommodation Process.
Your Role in Action:
Labor Relations:
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues.
- Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Provide guidance and support on labor relations matters, including union negotiations and facilitation of any appeals hearings requested by employees.
Mediation:
- Facilitate conflict resolution and mediation sessions between employees and management.
- Facilitate the appeals process any disciplinary action appeal requests from employees along with management and labor relations designees.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve workplace relationships and foster a positive work environment.
- Provide training and support on conflict resolution techniques.
Employment Law:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Provide guidance on legal issues related to employment, including discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination.
- Provide input and assist with regular audits to ensure HR policies and practices are following legal requirements.
Interactive Accommodations:
- Manage the interactive process for employees requesting accommodation under the ADA.
- Work with employees and managers to identify and implement reasonable accommodation.
- Maintain accurate records of accommodation requests and outcomes.
- Provide periodic reporting to Sr. Leadership on program efficacy
General HR Responsibilities:
- Partner with business leaders to develop and implement HR strategies that align with business objectives.
- Provide coaching and support to managers on HR-related issues.
- Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Conduct training sessions on various HR topics, including labor relations, mediation, and employment law.
What Qualifications You need:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent
- PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR, SHRM-SCP strong preferred
Experience
- 3-5 years as a Business Partner or Generalist in a shared services model
- Previous experience in HR, Employee Relations, Investigations, Employee Engagement and Labor Relations
- Business acumen/change management
- Experience working in HR supporting decentralized people services
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive relationships among diverse populations
