We're partnering with a growing manufacturing company seeking a hands-on Plant Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations for a production facility. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced manufacturing accounting professional who enjoys working closely with operations, driving process improvements, and making a direct impact on business performance.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a lean, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys balancing strategic financial leadership with day-to-day operational involvement.
What You'll Do
Financial Leadership
- Oversee the plant's accounting operations, general ledger, and monthly financial reporting.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial statements and management reports.
- Maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Coordinate year-end activities and support external audits.
Cost Accounting & Inventory
- Manage standard costing, inventory accounting, and manufacturing cost analysis.
- Analyze labor, material, and production variances.
- Oversee inventory controls, cycle counts, reconciliations, and physical inventories.
- Partner with operations to improve inventory accuracy and cost performance.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
- Assist with annual budgets and forecasting.
- Monitor financial performance against budget and provide meaningful variance analysis.
- Develop KPIs and financial metrics to support operational decision-making.
Operations Partnership
- Work closely with production, warehouse, purchasing, and leadership teams.
- Provide financial insights that improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen financial controls.
Process Improvement
- Improve accounting workflows and reporting.
- Support ERP optimization and financial system enhancements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting and operations.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 5–10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
- Manufacturing or production accounting experience required.
- Strong cost accounting and inventory management experience.
- ERP experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with operations leadership.
