Staff Accountant
Description
The Staff Accountant will support the Controller in executing the accounting, finance, and related functions
within the organization. This role will perform specific functions within the department while also
collaborating across the organization to support various initiatives.
Requirements
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual accounting activities in alignment with the direction from the Controller.
- Execute relevant policies, procedures, work instructions, and forms while helping to enhance such documentation.
- Lead expense management platform implementation and optimization while providing user support.
- Support processes and systems within the accounts payable function to ensure proper validation of invoices, costs, payment terms, and related items.
- Perform reconciliations, entries, and related items.
- Support month-end activities to derive financial reports and related presentations.
- Support vendor management to include vendor setup, communication, and related items.
- Support implementation and ongoing oversight of department and clinic budgets, metrics, and related information.
- Support grants management, fundraising tracking, and donor relations.
- Support asset management and tracking.
- Support supply chain operations as needed.
- Support construction management activities as needed.
- Support project management activities as needed.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure cohesive messaging and alignment with organizational priorities.
- Uphold FHN’s mission, vision, and values in all professional activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Review financial statements for accuracy and legal compliance
- Organize and update financial records
Skills, Knowledge, Credentials, and Experience
Required:
- General knowledge of accounting principles.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to derive and translate insights from data into actionable items.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity while working toward greater clarity.
- Extremely high level of professionalism regarding confidential and private information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and an ability to leverage systems applications efficiently and effectively.
Preferred:
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- One or more years of relevant experience in accounting.
Special Requirements
Work Hours:
40-hour workweek, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. This position requires prolonged
sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. It requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity
sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment. It also requires a normal
range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. This position may
require travel between sites and the ability to interact with others in both small and large group settings. At
times, this position may include periods of extended physical activity, such as walking/standing at community
events and/or moving and distributing educational materials. If the essential functions of this position cannot be
performed in a satisfactory manner by the employee, reasonable accommodations may be made.
