Principal Data Engineer (Remote - Texas)

This senior role offers the opportunity to lead and shape data engineering initiatives that directly support mission-critical business goals. You will provide technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable, and actionable data. Working closely with product managers and analytics teams, you will design and optimize complex data architectures, manage data pipelines, and uphold data quality standards. Accountabilities:

• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for the data engineering team.
• Collaborate with product management and data consumers to translate business needs into effective data solutions.
• Design and implement complex data models and data warehousing architectures using large datasets.
• Manage and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL and Python, ensuring data accuracy and performance.
• Develop tools and processes to maintain data lifecycle management and uphold data quality standards.
• Mentor team members and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Work cross-functionally with infrastructure, analytics, and business intelligence teams to align data strategies.

• 10+ years of experience in database development, integration, and analytics tools.
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing complex Data Warehouse and Data Lake models (Kimball methodology preferred).
• Demonstrated technical leadership and team management capabilities within data engineering.
• Extensive experience with data ETL/ELT processes, particularly on large datasets.
• Proficiency with AWS data warehousing tools, especially Amazon Redshift, and columnar data structures.
• Strong skills in Apache Airflow, Python, SQL, and common software engineering tools such as Git, JIRA, and Confluence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across teams.
• Willingness to take ownership of team results and responsibilities.
