Junior Estimator

We are seeking a motivated individual eager to grow within the heavy highway construction industry. This hybrid role combines estimating and sales coordination responsibilities, focusing on small roadway signs, traffic control products, and minimal construction projects. The ideal candidate will support estimating leads, assist with bidding and project planning, and contribute to business development across our Austin and San Antonio branches.

Requirements

• Assist in preparing bidding strategies, cost estimates, and contract reviews

• Analyze project plans and specifications to estimate time, cost, materials, and labor

• Prepare estimates for various subcontractors and small-scale projects

• Ensure projects adhere to safety regulations, quality standards, and deadlines

• Track historical cost data for future estimating

• Coordinate with clients, vendors, personnel, and construction foremen

• Plan, schedule, and coordinate project activities to meet deadlines

• Produce and distribute project documents to the operations team

• Support sign orders and traffic control planning

• Maintain organized bid documentation and proposals

• Build relationships with new and existing customers

Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications

• Familiarity with small utility and subdivision projects

• Prepare and manage sign orders and traffic control lists

• Communicate effectively via phone and email

• Support operations across Austin and San Antonio branches

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)

• Experience with construction estimating software (e.g., HCSS)

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)

• Minimum 1 year of construction or related industry experience

• 2+ years of cost estimation experience preferred

• Experience with heavy highway contracting is a plus
