Kinder Morgan (KM) is seeking a Compliance Systems Specialist for its fast-paced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) department in Denver, CO; Houston, TX or Colorado Springs, CO, to provide development, implementation, and regulatory support for KM's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance applications.

This individual will plan, coordinate, and assist in the management of Kinder Morgan's Learning Management software system (LMS).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the technical expert and administrator for LMS application and other similar technologies as assigned.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving issues identified in LMS application. Work with field locations and users to identify solutions and responses to issues in support of compliance applications.
  • Support and further develop existing automated reporting systems such as Business Objects, SSRS, PowerBI and Qlik analytics. Routine report creation and data comparison using Microsoft Excel and EHS compliance system data.
  • Work closely with the information technology (IT) department and third party vendors on development, upgrades, and enhancements for assigned applications.
  • Manage user security, permissions and location scope
  • Manage the addition of new system modules
  • Assist with project management of any new or ongoing EHS Systems projects
  • Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Responsible for providing training for new assigned personnel and compliance staff on the use and/or administration of LMS and other compliance systems.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of compliance policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for overall system maintenance to keep assignments and compliance requirements current.
  • Develop and manage training and acknowledgement matrices, course material, delivery methods, database and software systems, tracking and reporting, and follow-up processes.
  • Communicate effectively with company employees, vendors, and contractors.
  • Proactively plan, organize and oversee assigned work programs.
  • Deal with a wide variety of people and personalities with tact, courtesy and professionalism across multiple business units, including, but not limited to: other employees, all levels of management, vendors and customers.
  • Articulate and present ideas, proposals, and results to all levels of management.
  • Maintain applicable files, including, but not limited to, responsibility for electronic and manual document management.
  • Successfully resolve potential conflicts and foster a win-win atmosphere with internal and external customers.
  • Manage multiple tasks at once by using effective time management skills.
  • Write effectively, and understand verbal and written communications, including, but not limited to, email.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills, and listen carefully.

  • Work non-traditional hours, as needed.
  • Other daily, weekly, and monthly duties, and special projects, as assigned.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION:

  • BS or BA in Engineering, Physical or Environmental Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science or related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience will be consider in lieu of degree.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
  • Travel is required and anticipated up to 10% time away from the office and across a broad geographic region (U.S. coast to coast); motor vehicle and air travel anticipated.
  • Must possess or be eligible to acquire a U.S. passport.

COMPETENCIES, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience working with various compliance or learning management systems experience (i.e., system administration, management, or development)
  • In addition to the degree preference, a minimum of 2 to 5 years direct and active work experience with EHS regulations and the implementation of IT systems is preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft applications and database software, specifically including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Attention to detail a must, specifically with large amounts of data.
  • Excellent organizational skills are required. Must be able to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict and sometimes simultaneous deadlines.
  • Must be able to work within a team, take directions from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, exhibit excellent follow-through, focus attention to details, and follow work rules.
  • Ability to successfully perform the required and expected duties with minimal direct supervision.
  • Must be able to work autonomously as situation dictates.
  • Must be able to identify and understand expectations in an employee/employer relationship.
  • Good interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate system requirements verbally and in writing.
  • Must maintain a high degree of professionalism.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position):

  • Experience with implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of environmental management system software to include EHS compliance, learning management, incident management, and compliance management systems.
  • Experience with PowerBI or Qlik analytic dashboard development a plus.
  • Experience with environmental, health, and safety terminology and practical field knowledge.
  • General understanding of the energy industry and familiar with industry terminology.
  • Working knowledge of databases.
  • Advanced proficiency level in MS Office applications including: Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Prior experience in writing and reviewing, and training users on, written procedures.
  • Professional certifications in an EHS discipline, or similar background, are considered a plus.
  • Professional certifications in a Computer Science discipline, Data Analytics, or similar background, are advantageous.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Majority of the work will be conducted from an office environment. Extended periods of sitting may be required for administrative activities.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • The nature of the work requires a significant amount of visual acuity for reading in both electronic and hard copy formats in order to review documents, proofread work, create documents, and perform tasks in KM's EHS compliance systems.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, some nights and weekends, and holidays as needed and required.
  • Based in a Denver CO, Houston TX, or Colorado Springs CO KM corporate office.
  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (M-W in office, Th & F at home when travel not required).

Pay range: $85,100.00-$149,800.00 per year. This position includes a discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
