Lone Star Paving is a paving contractor, operating in the Central Texas region with paving crews, HMA, aggregate, trucking, milling, and quality control. Our operations complete heavy highway and civil projects throughout Texas. Position Overview
The Common Laborer position is an integral part of the paving crew working with the entire team, foreman, and superintendent to ensure paving jobs are completed to high standards. The ideal candidate is familiar with physical labor and is able to perform tasks related to asphalt work in numerous settings and environments.
Key Responsibilities
- General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching or prep crews.
- Required ability to shovel, rake and handle other small tools.
- Equipment cleanup as needed.
- May be called upon to run small power tools.
- Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
- Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 1 year (or under) experience
- Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Must be positive, friendly, and professional.
- Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
- Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
- Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
- Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
- Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Entry Level Position
- Working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, a plus
- High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required
Working Conditions
- Be available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as required.
- Some travel may be required as our operations span throughout Texas.
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include but not be limited to inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
- Proper PPE is required at all times.
