POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for design and installation for control systems, the operational interface, OITs, PLCs, HMI’s and field instrumentation sensing systems at all TRA sites. This position controls access to programmable logic controllers (PLCs) networks as well as coordination with integrators on numerous construction projects. The individual will also monitor the network, enforce security measures, analyzing system requirements, writing and installing custom programmable logic code, test system efficiency, provide operational support and manage version control for all devices connected to the process control system. This position exercises considerable latitude in using judgment and establishing vision within the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. PLC configuration and programming services from maintenance & improvement Projects of existing systems. PLC familiarity with various platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, Eaton, GE PAC Systems, SCADAPack, etc

2. SCADA programming services on platforms such as Rockwell Software FT View SE, Schneider Electric, GE iFix etc.

3. HMI Programming services for various manufacturers such as Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus, Maple Systems, Schneider Electric Magellis, and many others.

4. Be familiar with and able to understand and develop the following drawing packages: Electrical Schematics, Panel Layout Drawings, Communication Drawings, Loop Drawings, Or other drawings as applicable.

5. Basic understanding of process control networks over ethernet TCP/IP, RS-232 and RS-485 etc.

6. Knowledgeable in multiple hardware protocols i.e., Ether IP, DF1, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP.

7. Basic knowledge of typical radio configuration and communication.

8. Understand Control Narratives and Function Strategies for use in Submittals and O&M Manuals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Regularly has full personnel management responsibilities including approving time, selection, discipline, grievances and formal performance evaluations for direct reports.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Assists in budget preparation

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

BS or BA in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems

EXPERIENCE

Must have 3-5 year of experience, with automation controller systems such as Allen Bradley, Schneider Electric (Modicon) & GE PLC systems and Eaton PLC system.

Must have experience with HMI and SCADA system such as iFix, Cimplicty, Historian etc.

Must perform troubleshooting in field side equipment like transmitter, Sensor switches etc.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• CompTIA Security+ or approved equivalent (Required)

• Valid Texas Drivers License (Required)

• Advanced certifications related to programming, industrial controls, and software development preferred.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of computer information systems, hardware, software, network and email systems. Specific knowledge of systems administration and management principles. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of industrial control system networks and protocols.

Must have good interpersonal communication and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize, organize, analyze and solve problems. Ability to manage multiple projects. Ability to work harmoniously with supervisors, peers, subordinates, contract personnel, and vendors.

GUIDANCE RECEIVED

Follows general supervisory instructions, as well as policies and precedents open to judgment in some areas and more specific guidelines, policies and procedures in others. Based on knowledge of policies, precedents and procedures, may regularly assist others with standard work methods and problems.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Duties are generally carried out in an office environment, however, some field work is required and will include abnormal hours.

Highly complex electronic equipment to include personal computers, network servers, switches, routers and various other hardware and software related devices.
