Job Overview:

The Manager Project Accounting role requires an in-depth understanding of Project Accounting concepts, theories, and principles and basic knowledge of other related disciplines. The Manager Project Accounting must be able to apply an understanding of the industry to improve effectiveness, provide guidance, and influence processes and policies for the Project Accounting discipline, as well as identify and resolve technical, operational, and organizational problems that impact effectiveness. The Manager Project Accounting impacts the level of service and the Project Accounting team's ability to meet quality and timeliness objectives. Policies, resource requirements, budgets, and the business plan should guide the Manager Project Accounting decisions.

Objective

To support the Project Management team by executing the commercial and financial aspects of one or more medium size projects in late-stage execution through to completion. As well, support bid efforts for new work.

Accountable for the fulfillment of all financial and commercial requirements of the project.

Tasks

• Ensure preparation and review of large amounts of financial data into executive-level presentation materials to include monthly Executive Committee reports
• Ensure contract capital and cash flow forecasts are prepared and provided to end users on as needed basis, including deviations reporting.
• Ensures compliance with internal/external regulations and procedures.
• Optimize project cash flow; manage the currency risk and payment securities, banking, tax issues, cost and financial reporting, accounting, and project financing requirements.
• Promotes commercial awareness in the project team and provides commercial input to the project execution plan.
• Responsible for the invoicing process and follow up on outstanding receivables.
• Responsible for the project balance sheet and P&L account and accounting for changes in project forecast.
• Monitor the proper identification and follow up on claims and back charges.
• Responsible for coordinating and initiating project external/internal financial audits.
• Prime contact for financial, tax and HR related matters to ensure proper execution of the project financial execution plan.
• Monitor commercial compliance with contracts/agreements with clients, partners etc.
• May supervise Project Accounting Clerk and or Field Administrators.
• Home office position. Some domestic and international business travel may be required.
• If required may provide assistance to other Project Accountants with heavy workload if required
• If required may replace colleagues during illness and holidays or re-assignment to other projects

Required Skills

• Working knowledge of US GAAP standards and application to include reading and understanding the income statement, balance sheet, cash flow.
• Practical and flexible attitude with an independent judgment.
• Ability to work in fast-paced and dynamic environment and deliver accurate results.
• Must effectively interface with clients, business associates, peers and subordinates.
• Must be detail-oriented, a team player and able to effectively work to strict deadlines.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for execution of assigned R2R activities, including budgeting, forecasting, standards development, monthly reporting, variance/trend analysis, and cash forecasts
• Prepare planning and utilization reports to facilitate decision-making and ensure activities and reports are completed as per the FP&A calendar timelines
• Ensure all assigned activities are completed within the agreed time and of the highest quality and ensure that team metrics/KPIs are met
• Support various internal and external audits relating to assigned activities
• Provide timely and effectively communicated responses to internal and external inquiries
• Provide accurate and effective document preparation and records management relative to the assigned activities per records retention policies and procedures
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and training
• Interface effectively with clients, business associates, peers, and subordinates

Essential Qualifications and Education:

• 10+ years of experience, ideally in the oil and gas, EPCI, or construction industry
• Bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting required and relevant certification, such as Chartered Accountant, ACCA, CPA, etc.)
• Practical and flexible attitude with independent judgment
• Must be detail-oriented, a team player, and able to effectively work to strict deadlines
• Must be computer literate with working knowledge of finance and accounting system
• Ability to work in a multi-office, multi-cultural, multi-regulatory project execution environment
• Good verbal and written communication skills required
• Good social skills and ability to handle conflict situations
