Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Outpatient Metabolic & Liver Care

Full-Time | Outpatient Specialty Practice

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our outpatient specialty team focused on liver disease, metabolic disorders, and chronic disease management. The ideal candidate brings strong clinical judgment, values structured workflows, and demonstrates the type of professional independence that comes from experience, curiosity, and a commitment to continuous learning.

This is an excellent role for an APP who takes initiative, manages complexity with confidence, and appreciates how timely documentation and disciplined follow-through elevate both patient outcomes and team efficiency. You will also have the opportunity to integrate clinical research into patient care when appropriate.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Care

• Provide comprehensive evaluation and ongoing management of patients with chronic liver disease, fatty liver, metabolic syndrome, cirrhosis
• Conduct focused physical exams, develop evidence-based treatment plans, and manage follow-up visits with sound clinical reasoning.
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic tests, integrating findings into cohesive care plans.
• Manage medication adjustments, therapeutic monitoring, and patient education with clarity and confidence.

Documentation & Workflow

• Complete all clinic notes, orders, and communications within established timelines
• Maintain accurate, detailed, compliant documentation within the ECW EMR.
• Manage patient messages, telephone encounters, and outstanding tasks related to clinical care.
• Participate in structured workflows that support continuity, patient safety, and clinic efficiency.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work collaboratively with physicians, APPs, medical assistants, research staff, and administrative teams.
• Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up expectations.
• Engage in case discussions, care coordination, and team meetings as needed.

Clinical Research Integration

• Recognize candidates who may benefit from research trials and collaborate with the research team for seamless coordination.
• Utilize research pathways as part of comprehensive care when clinically appropriate (training provided).
• Support trial-related documentation and tasks within scope

Qualifications

• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with an active Texas license (or eligibility to obtain).
• Minimum 3–5 years of outpatient clinical experience in hepatology, GI, internal medicine, endocrinology, cardiology, or related specialties.
• Strong foundation in chronic disease management.
• Proven ability to meet documentation timelines and manage a steady outpatient volume.
• Interest in integrating clinical research into patient care.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative culture.
