Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Supervising Transmission Engineer to lead a team of engineers, designers, and drafters responsible for delivering high-voltage transmission line projects. In this leadership role, you will oversee project execution, resource allocation, quality assurance, budgets, and schedules while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with industry standards.

The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with extensive experience in transmission line engineering, team leadership, and project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise multiple transmission engineering project teams.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, quality, and overall profitability.
  • Assign engineering resources based on project priorities, staffing availability, and workload.
  • Conduct regular meetings with project teams to monitor progress and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate engineering efforts with construction, purchasing, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with company QA/QC procedures and qualify team members for QA/QC responsibilities.
  • Monitor project teams to ensure adherence to project-specific standards and engineering best practices.
  • Track project milestones and proactively address resource loading and scheduling challenges.
  • Perform engineering design and project engineering duties as needed to support project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, including NESC, GO 95, IEEE, ANSI, and ASTM.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation using the company document management system.
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
  • Travel periodically to support project and client needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Candidates licensed in another state must be able to obtain the required state license within one year of hire.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the electric transmission and distribution industry.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with high-voltage transmission line engineering and design.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and managing multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Strong understanding of transmission engineering, including: Transmission line routing, Conductor selection, Lattice tower analysis, Structure selection and analysis, Plan and profile development, Material takeoffs
  • Experience with engineering software including: PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole, SAG10, LPILE, FAD, Other applicable engineering software
  • Thorough knowledge of transmission engineering standards, including: NESC, GO 95, IEEE, ANSI, ASTM
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
