Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and field-ready professional to join our team as a Field DOT & Safety Specialist. This dual-role position combines hands-on field safety inspections and audits with administrative responsibilities related to DOT compliance. The ideal candidate has a strong background in OSHA/DOT safety standards and experience with fleet documentation. You will play a key role in supporting both job site operations and compliance tracking to ensure regulatory adherence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site safety inspections and job site audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety policies.

• Evaluate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and workplace control measures.

• Perform DOT vehicle inspections, including brake systems, tires, lighting, registration, and logbooks.

• Enter and maintain vehicle maintenance records, service reports, and inspection logs.

• Track and maintain driver qualification files (e.g., CDL, medical cards, MVRs, training records).

• Ensure registrations, apportioned mileage logs (IFTA/IRP), insurance documents, and other fleet compliance items are up to date.

• Assist in driver onboarding and compliance orientation.

• Use fleet management software (e.g., JJ Keller, Fleetio, Geotab) and spreadsheets for tracking and reporting.

• Support audit preparation and provide documentation for internal and regulatory reviews.

• Prepare clear and timely reports on safety observations and compliance findings.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in a safety or DOT compliance role required.
• Familiarity with FMCSR, OSHA standards, and DOT documentation.
• High school diploma or GED required; additional certifications a plus (e.g., OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and electronic compliance systems.
• Excellent attention to detail, written communication, and recordkeeping skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record (MVR).
• Ability to work in both field and office environments, and lift/move equipment as needed.
• Capable of working independently and in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
