Lead Design & Application Engineer Process Automation - RibbitZ

Our client RibbitZ is hiring a Lead Design & Application Engineer Process Automation in Houston.

This role will focus on designing and implementing integrated control, safety, SCADA, automation, and industrial communication systems for complex engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement software applications for industrial automation systems, including PCS, SIS, F&G, SCADA, CMS, PMS, Instrument Asset Management, and electrical systems
• Review project specifications, control philosophies, P&IDs, C&E diagrams, and functional requirements
• Identify and configure PLC, HMI, instrumentation, control loops, alarms, interlocks, timers, diagnostics, and sequencing logic
• Design and configure HMI and SCADA graphics, animations, pop-ups, faceplates, alarm banners, and operator interfaces
• Develop advanced control strategies, including SFCs, cascade control, ratio control, split-range control, sequence logic, and PID loops
• Configure inter-system and intra-system communications using serial, fieldbus, Ethernet, and other industrial protocols
• Design data acquisition systems, historian configurations, and alarm management solutions
• Support industrial network architecture and cybersecurity measures, including network segmentation, access control, system hardening, and data integrity
• Prepare and review Functional Design Specifications, FAT and SAT procedures, system manuals, and other technical documentation
• Participate in FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, system modifications, training, and final handover
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, engineering standards, procedures, and quality requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
• 8–10 years of experience in industrial automation, control systems, or application engineering
• Strong understanding of instrumentation, process automation systems, and industrial standards
• Ability to interpret Functional Requirement Specifications, P&IDs, Cause-and-Effect diagrams, and technical documentation
• Experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA, SIS, F&G, historian, alarm management, and industrial communication systems
• Hands-on experience with FAT, SAT, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting
• Strong documentation, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
