The Opportunity

Skyways is expanding rapidly, and we're seeking a Software Engineer to contribute across our diverse and growing software landscape. This is a critical generalist role with a broad scope, empowering you to tackle varied challenges, from complex ground station applications to the sophisticated systems that control our autonomous aircraft. You will play a vital role in enabling our rapid development and deployment, making a tangible impact in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.

What You'll Do:

• Develop and deploy high-quality software (front-end, back-end, embedded).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams; define requirements, implement solutions.
• Address pain points in software imaging, deployment, and operations.
• Contribute to system architecture: scalability, reliability, maintainability.
• Proactively identify and debug complex issues; drive solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, foster best practices, promote excellence.
• Assist data analysis, large datasets, and effective visualizations

What You'll Bring:

• Strong proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript.
• Experience building and maintaining software systems.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, algorithms, design patterns.
• Experience with Git, testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent problem-solving skills; meticulous attention to detail.
• Proactive, self-starter; comfortable with ambiguity in fast-paced environments.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; collaborate effectively.

Bonus Points If You Have:

• Front-end: ElectronJS, 3D rendering (CesiumJS, Three.js, Babylon.js)
• Robotics, computer vision ("landing zone," "detect/avoid"), autonomous systems.
• Familiarity with Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) for navigation.
• Experience with direct hardware or embedded system communication.
• Knowledge of aviation or defense programs.
• Experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
