Assistant Scientist Product Integrity Analytical
• Applies basic understanding of standard lab practices and techniques to substantiate the stability of ingredients, products and other items marketed by Mary Kay Inc. Works with supervisor or more experienced colleagues to ensure that Mary Kay products are designed to maintain their fit, form, and function during expected use, storage conditions and shelf life, and seeks consultation when addressing non-standard issues. Begins to compile data, analyze, and interpret results, writes and/or reviews reports, communicates study results to other R&D or New Product Development partners. May function as a NPD project owner for PIA. Collaborates with Product Formulation, Process Development/Commercialization and Package Engineering during formula development to ensure testing plans and protocols are right sized based on product form and package selection. Effectively communicates cross-functionally.
• Works within department and assists senior technical staff on projects and initiatives. Drafts, updates, and/or trains on standard operating procedures, work instructions, methods and other laboratory documents as needed to ensure technical rigor and to comply with internal and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset in daily work. Begins to critically evaluate work processes and may make thoughtful proposals on how to improve our work. Participates in activities and projects to support overall department/R&D goals. Collaborates with others within the department on projects and initiatives to accomplish team objectives.
• Develops the technical capabilities of self. Remains externally focused and maintains awareness of industry technology, public relations issues, product safety concerns, and regulatory compliance related to stability testing and analysis. Seeks opportunities both internally and externally to grow knowledge base and skill set. This may include attendance at Stability webinars, conferences, etc. to further the alignment of the lab to industry standards.
• Expected to participate in routine laboratory maintenance efforts, including ordering, solvent preparation, hazardous waste disposal, instrument vendor communications, and overall GLP.

• Must understand basic principles of chemistry.
• Must possess excellent communication skills that help explain complex concepts to collaborators, along with written and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Must be well organized, capable of managing high levels of detail, and handling multiple activities/tasks under pressure.
• Demonstrates agility. Able to adapt to changing priorities
• Must be able to perform duties with minimal direction and independently perform assignments with general guidance for expected results.
