Service Writer – Entry Level

Southwest International Trucks is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Entry-Level Service Writer to join our team in McKinney, Texas . This role serves as the liaison between customers and the service department, ensuring clear communication and efficient service delivery. Ideal candidates are organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Service Writer Job Responsibilities:

• Greet customers, listen to their service needs and concerns.
• Secure agreement with customers before repairs are started.
• Determine warranty eligibility.
• Create and update service orders in the system.
• Communicate with technicians to relay customer issues and track progress.
• Provide accurate estimates and timelines for service completion.
• Follow up with customers regarding service status and approvals.
• Maintain organized records of service history and customer interactions.
• Assist with scheduling appointments and managing service calendars.
• Ensure customer satisfaction through professional and courteous service.
• Maintain the upkeep of the shop.
• Assist the Service Manager as needed.

Service Writer Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 or more years’ minimum experience; preferably in the Heavy-Duty Truck Industry.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record, CDL a plus
• Sales Skills and ability to make appropriate service recommendations
• Basic engine knowledge
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, service software).
• Ability to multitask and stay organized under pressure.
• Ability to solve problems in an efficient and effective manner

Service Writer Compensation:

• $20 - $24/hr. based on experience
• Full access to benefits package outlined below

Service Writer Schedule and Hours:

• Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with rotating Saturday.
