IT Portfolio Manager
A Kforce client has an exciting opportunity in San Antonio, TX for an IT Portfolio Manager to help drive strategic execution across the IT project portfolio. This is a contract-to-hire position, and while much of the work is remote, candidate needs to be located in the San Antonio area to go onsite as needed. Summary: As an IT Portfolio Manager, you will serve as both a strategic partner and an execution driver, working closely with senior leaders-including CEO direct reports-to shape, manage, and deliver high-impact initiatives across the organization. Key Responsibilities:
- IT Portfolio Manager will partner with business line leaders to intake, define, and roadmap strategic initiatives
- Support executive-level portfolio reviews through compelling visual and narrative storytelling
- Monitor initiative progress, identify risks and dependencies, and drive mitigation strategies
- Contribute to quarterly and annual planning, including benefits realization tracking
- As an IT Portfolio Manager, you will assist in capacity and resource planning with IT and business stakeholders
- Develop playbooks, frameworks, and process improvements to enhance delivery effectiveness
- Lead or support internal initiatives such as capability builds, maturity assessments, and governance redesigns
- Executive Storytelling & PowerPoint Design - Skilled in translating complex ideas into clear, compelling presentations
- Problem Solving in Ambiguity - Resourceful and proactive in undefined environments
- Strategic Portfolio Management Acumen - Ability to manage and align initiatives with business goals
- A strategic thinker with strong execution skills
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and building structure from scratch
- Polished and executive-facing, yet hands-on and collaborative
- Hungry to grow, humble in approach, and driven by outcomes
- Experience managing or supporting cross-functional IT portfolios
- Strong track record in strategic planning and benefits realization
- Demonstrated ability to build or improve processes, playbooks, or governance frameworks
- Background in consulting, transformation, or strategy roles is a plus
- Industry experience in banking or financial services is helpful but not required
- PMP or PMI-ACP
- SAFe or Agile certifications
- Prosci or other change management certifications
- CB-PMO or PfMP
