Radiation Oncology Medical Director
Medical Director of Radiation Oncology
UMC TLC² Foundation Cancer Center | Lubbock, Texas
A predictable weekday schedule. Protected planning time. Advanced technology. A dedicated clinical team.
UMC Health System is recruiting a board-certified or board-eligible Radiation Oncologist to join an experienced, full-time physician in our ACR-accredited cancer program. The TLC² Foundation Cancer Center opened in April 2026 and serves patients across West Texas and Eastern New Mexico.
- Weekday schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with physicians generally finishing earlier on Fridays.
- Protected planning time: Each day is divided between clinic and simulations/treatment planning. Mondays are dedicated to on-treatment visits.
- Modern technology: Two matched TrueBeam linear accelerators, HyperArc, Eclipse, IMRT, SBRT/SRS, DIBH, SGRT, and gynecologic HDR brachytherapy.
- Dedicated support: Each physician is paired with a nurse and patient care assistant. The department also includes six radiation therapists and contracted dosimetry and physics support.
- Balanced volume: Approximately 20 to 30 patients are treated daily across two linear accelerators, with up to five consults or 10 follow-ups per clinic day and a varied mix of stereotactic, later-stage, and skin cancer cases.
- Multidisciplinary care: On-site medical oncology, weekly tumor boards, integrative medicine, navigation, palliative care, behavioral health, and other patient-support services.
The current two-physician team alternates weekend call and holiday coverage. Two radiation therapists and one physicist are reserved to support the physician on call. Candidates may also pursue a Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center faculty appointment, teaching, clinical trials, scholarship, and program growth based on interest and experience.
• MD or DO; board-certified or board-eligible in Radiation Oncology through the ABR or AOBR
• Eligible for an unrestricted Texas medical license and medical staff privileges
Lubbock offers short commutes, strong schools, Texas Tech Big 12 sports, live music, Broadway performances, local restaurants and coffee shops, wineries, museums, and an easy quality of life.
