The Team Lead will provide both technical and people leadership, guiding architecture, engineering standards, team development, and delivery execution across application development, enterprise integration, cloud infrastructure, and data platforms.

In this role, you will partner closely with business stakeholders to translate complex operational needs into scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions while building a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

This position offers the opportunity to shape team culture, develop engineering talent, influence technical strategy, and deliver impactful business solutions across the Bar and Engineered Bar Mill Group.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor Business Technology (NBT) will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of solution engineers.
  • Own team delivery commitments, sprint planning, prioritization, and resource management.
  • Establish technical direction, architecture standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted development tools and workflows to improve productivity and quality.
  • Maintain high standards for software design, testing, security, and documentation.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues and production incidents.
  • Lead design reviews, code reviews, and engineering mentorship efforts.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to build technical roadmaps aligned with business priorities.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture and platform teams to develop reusable, scalable solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security, data protection, and governance standards.
  • Support modernization initiatives and long-term platform strategy.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • 2+ years of experience leading, mentoring, or managing other engineers, in a formal or informal capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing scalable, multi-tier enterprise applications.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Azure cloud services and modern DevOps practices.
  • Experience integrating customer-facing applications with Oracle EBS or similar ERP platforms.
  • Experience with data engineering, observability, and authentication/authorization frameworks.
  • Formal people management experience, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
  • Experience with AI agents, MCP servers, and intelligent automation solutions.
  • Experience building modern web applications using React, TypeScript, and enterprise design systems.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, ERP, or B2B commerce environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical strategy, mentor engineers, and partner with vendors or system integrators.
