Job Summary
The Quality Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, and validating tools and equipment following assembly to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. This role supports manufacturing quality by conducting functional tests, documenting results, identifying nonconformances, and ensuring products meet SLB safety, reliability, and performance expectations before shipment.
Job Description
- Perform quality inspections and functional testing of assembled equipment
- Verify product conformity against engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Conduct pressure, mechanical, dimensional, electrical, and functional testing as required for specific products.
- Operate test equipment, gauges, measurement devices, and data acquisition systems.
- Review and record test data accurately in quality and manufacturing systems.
- Identify, document, and report nonconforming products and deviations.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
- Ensure all testing activities comply with SLB quality management and safety requirements.
- Verify calibration status of measurement and test equipment before use.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, assembly, and quality teams to resolve product issues.
- Conduct final inspections and release products for shipment when acceptance criteria are met.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality and process efficiency.
- Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports, and test documentation.
- Follow all HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and procedures.
Skills Required
- Experience in quality inspection, testing, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
- Working knowledge of quality control principles and inspection techniques.
- Proficiency with measuring instruments and test equipment.
- Basic computer skills and experience with quality management systems.
- Mechanical inspection and testing
- Downhole tool functional testing
- Pressure testing and leak testing
- Dimensional inspection
- Root cause analysis
- Calibration verification
- Quality documentation and reporting
Preferred skills:
- Experience in oilfield services, downhole tools, or manufacturing operations.
- Familiarity with ISO quality systems.
- Experience with SAP or other manufacturing systems.
- Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience.
Education
- Requi red: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Preferred: Associate degree in Quality, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
Additional requirements
- Sh i ft: 2n d shift Monday - Friday 3:30pm - 2:00am
Pay rate
- $23 - $25 per hour (Compensation is offered based on experience, skills, and market factors)
