Child & Online Safety Expert for AI Training
Apply clinical and child-safety expertise to shape evaluation frameworks and detection systems that protect young people online. You will help design mental-health safety benchmarks, risk-detection taxonomies, and clinical escalation rubrics used to train and evaluate next-generation AI systems for responding to youth crisis situations. This work supports a high-impact customer project run by a leading AI data lab focused on online safety and mental-health support for minors.
Key Responsibilities- Develop detailed taxonomies for self-harm, suicide risk, eating disorders, emotional dependency, and related mental-health concerns in digital contexts.
- Establish clinical and digital best-practice standards for supporting youth and adolescent mental health online.
- Create detection and flagging frameworks to identify potentially harmful content or advice directed at minors during mental-health crises.
- Design, test, and refine clinical response rubrics and escalation protocols for at-risk individuals in online environments.
- Provide subject-matter input on CSAM-adjacent policy, online exploitation dynamics, and child protection measures.
- Collaborate with project leads to ensure evaluation benchmarks are grounded in current research and clinical practice.
- Deliver clear, actionable written and verbal feedback that influences AI safety tool and framework development.
- Required skills: child safety, CSAM-adjacent policy knowledge, teen safety, crisis-care, and mental-health expertise.
- Licensed therapist, psychiatrist, clinician, or other mental-health professional with direct crisis-care experience preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of focused work in adolescent mental health, suicide prevention, eating-disorder intervention, or closely related fields; 8 to 20 years of experience welcomed for senior contributors.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical risk assessment and intervention in digital or online settings.
- Advanced degree, specialized certification, or equivalent operational experience in mental health or child safety domains.
- Experience evaluating or implementing CSAM-adjacent policies or working within child online exploitation prevention initiatives strongly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to distill complex clinical concepts for diverse audiences, and a track record of credibility in clinical, crisis-response, or safety-evaluation communities.
- No prior experience in artificial intelligence or AI development required; domain expertise is the primary qualification.
- Engagement type: Independent contractor.
- Location: Remote.
- Work will involve producing written materials, rubrics, and verbal feedback for the project team and may require synchronous collaboration as scheduled with project leads.
- Hourly rate: $50 to $90 per hour.
- Applicants must be able to contract as independent contractors under applicable local rules.
- No prior AI experience required, but demonstrated subject-matter expertise in child and adolescent mental health and safety is essential.
