Freight Administrator

Job Summary:
The Freight Administrator at PTP Metal Recyclers, plays a key role in coordinating inbound and outbound shipments in a fast-paced industrial environment. This position serves as the primary point of contact for receiving schedules, communicates with carriers and suppliers, and ensures that accurate information regarding shipments is keyed into our customer ERP software. The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer-focused, and able to problem-solve while maintaining accuracy and professionalism

PTP Metal Recyclers is a fast-growing, metal recycling company.

We have an opening for a Freight Administrator at our Dallas, TX facility.

Shift : 1st

Days : Monday - Friday (must be flexible to work outside of normal business hours occasionally as needed)

Duties and Responsibilities :

· Serve as the main point of contact for all inbound receiving scheduling and appointment coordination.

· Enter and maintain accurate shipment, appointment, and export booking data in a custom ERP system.

· Communicate clearly and professionally via phone and email with carriers, freight brokers and suppliers regarding incoming and outgoing shipments and truck arrivals.

· Coordinate closely with scale operators, yard personnel, customer service, and the Logistics Manager to ensure efficient truck flow and minimal onsite time for carriers.

· Monitor and manage daily inbound and outbound logistics activity, including truck and export container movements.

· Assist with export-related documentation and scheduling (training provided; prior experience a plus).

· Troubleshoot scheduling conflicts, delays, and documentation issues using sound judgment and problem-solving skills.

· Maintain accurate records while adhering to company procedures, safety guidelines, and operational requirements.

Qualifications:

· 1–2 years of experience in logistics, shipping/receiving, dispatch, or customer service (industrial or transportation environment preferred).

· Strong customer service mindset with the ability to communicate professionally with internal teams and external partners.

· Highly organized with strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

· Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize work in a deadline-driven environment.

· Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Teams; ability to learn a custom ERP system.

· Ability to work independently while following established procedures and processes.

· Comfortable working in an industrial setting and interacting regularly with truck drivers and yard operations staff.

· Ability to perform basic math and read, understand, and follow written instructions and safety guidelines.

· Understanding of export logistics and documentation is a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment :

· Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday.

· Regular use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone.

· Ability to sit for extended periods in an office environment.

· Occasional work in an outdoor or industrial yard environment with exposure to varying weather conditions.
