Forensic Engineer

The Staff Engineer (Forensic) will perform site investigative evaluations and understand civil/structural testing data to determine the root cause of structural engineering and building envelope failures. He/She will take a hands-on approach to engineering by recording observations, performing/witnessing testing, and writing his/her unbiased findings into a detailed report. This role will require continuous learning in a team-focused environment. The ideal candidate will be located in the DFW metroplex.

Essential Functions:
oPerforms investigations and assessments regarding the design, construction, and standard of care associated with planned improvements and the built environment involving geotechnical engineering, soil-structure interactions, structural systems, civil sitework, exterior cladding systems, building envelopes (moisture and thermal), peril damage, and personal injury.
oEvaluates single-family residences, multi-family apartment/condominium complexes, commercial facilities, warehouses, institutional facilities, and industrial facilities as well as ancillary structures such as retaining walls, screen walls, and swimming pools.
oDocuments facts and gives a thorough and complete report on all related findings
oPerforms technical research as needed to support investigation.
oApplies engineering theory, education, and previous work knowledge to real world situations
oPrepares precise and unbiased written reports of complex findings for site investigations based on field inspections and research on a timely basis.
oConsistently meets all required company expectations and deadlines, particularly during heavy workload.
oConsistently and effectively communicates with engineering team daily.
oMeets with clients as needed to review findings and make recommendations
oEstablishes trusting, working relationships based on knowledge, experience, and integrity

Location: Work from home, in-office or hybrid

Physical Demands:
This position is a combination of site visits, travel-related work, and sedentary work. An employee is regularly required to drive, stand, sit, walk, reach, type, talk, hear, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, push, pull, carry, and lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds. An employee may also be required to traverse uneven terrain, enter structures, use ladders, climb scaffolding, walk on roofs, enter crawl spaces and other tight areas, as well as work in a variety weather conditions.

Bachelor's Degree in Structural/Civil/Geotechnical Engineering (MSCE preferred)
