SAP FICO Lead Consultant/Practice Lead
The SAP FICO Lead Consultant / Practice Lead will serve as a senior functional and strategic leader for the SAP Finance practice. This individual will act as a brand ambassador for the organization’s SAP capabilities, representing the practice in client engagements, solution discussions, and market-facing activities.
In addition to deep functional expertise in SAP FI/CO, this role will provide leadership to the consulting team, including oversight of Principal Consultants, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality, scalable, and compliant SAP solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong functional knowledge, hands-on delivery experience, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Key Responsibilities
Practice Leadership & Client Engagement
- Serve as the face of the SAP FICO practice in client interactions, proposals, and strategic discussions.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, providing guidance on SAP Finance strategy and transformation initiatives.
- Lead solution design workshops and drive alignment between business goals and SAP capabilities.
- Support business development efforts, including pre-sales, solutioning, and proposal development.
- Provide leadership and direction to the SAP FICO team, including oversight of Principal Consultants and senior team members.
- Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into scalable SAP FICO solutions aligned with organizational objectives.
- Lead configuration and customization across SAP FI and CO modules, including:
- General Ledger (FI-GL)
- Accounts Payable (FI-AP)
- Accounts Receivable (FI-AR)
- Asset Accounting (FI-AA)
- Cost Center Accounting (CO-CCA)
- Profit Center Accounting (CO-PCA)
- Internal Orders (CO-IO)
- Oversee and guide month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Partner with finance and business leaders to optimize financial processes and reporting.
- Provide oversight on enhancements, custom developments, and integrations involving SAP FICO.
- Guide teams on forms development (SmartForms, SAPscript, Adobe Forms) and financial reporting solutions.
- Review and support complex debugging and issue resolution efforts.
- Oversee data migration, validation, and reconciliation strategies.
- Lead SAP implementations, rollouts, and transformation initiatives (ECC and/or S/4HANA).
- Ensure high-quality deliverables including functional specifications and solution documentation.
- Oversee testing strategy, including unit testing, integration testing, and UAT.
- Establish and enforce delivery standards, SLAs, and best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement across delivery processes and methodologies.
- Mentor and develop consultants, senior consultants, and principal-level resources.
- Provide knowledge transfer and enablement to internal teams and client stakeholders.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 7–10+ years of SAP FICO experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Proven experience leading SAP FICO implementations or large-scale enhancements.
- Strong functional expertise across SAP FI and CO modules.
- Experience with SAP development concepts (ABAP, enhancements, reporting).
- Hands-on experience with SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA Finance.
- Deep understanding of financial accounting principles and controlling processes.
- SAP FICO or SAP S/4HANA Finance certification.
- Experience with S/4HANA transformations, New GL, or Universal Journal.
- Exposure to cross-functional integration (MM, SD, PP, HR).
- Experience in client-facing leadership or pre-sales roles.
- Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
