Middle or High School Academic Tutor

The Role:
We are seeking highly experienced subject specialists and academic coaches who want to work with motivated middle school and high school students and families who value expertise.

This is not a volume tutoring role.

Our tutors operate as trusted academic partners, helping students develop deeper understanding, stronger learning strategies, and confidence in challenging subjects.

Tutors on the SiSTEM platform typically specialize in areas such as:

• Middle School Reading, Writing, Math & Science.
  
• High School Math: Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics.
• High School Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
• High School English.
• Pre-AP, Honors/GT, AP, IB courses.
• SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT test preparation.
• Other State-Specific Exams.

We are looking for educators who can deliver exceptional learning experiences, not just homework help.

Responsibilities:

• Help students develop deeper conceptual understanding in your area of expertise.
• Work one-on-one with middle school and high school students (grades 6–12) to provide high-quality academic instruction and guidance.
• Support students in building effective study habits, problem-solving strategies, and academic confidence.
• Provide clear explanations and structured guidance rather than simply giving answers.
• Collaborate with SiSTEM’s academic planning system so tutoring sessions align with each student’s broader roadmap.
• Communicate professionally with families when appropriate regarding progress, strategy, and next steps.
• Maintain high standards of professionalism, preparation, and student engagement.

What We Look For:
We are highly selective about the educators we bring onto the SiSTEM platform.

Ideal candidates typically have:

• 5+ years of teaching, tutoring, coaching, or academic mentoring experience.
• Deep subject matter expertise in middle school or high school academic subjects.
• Experience working with motivated or high-achieving students in grades 6–12.
• A strong track record of helping students improve academically or reach meaningful goals.
• Excellent communication and teaching ability.
• The ability to explain complex ideas clearly and patiently.
• Professional reliability and high standards.
