The Ideal candidate is a licensed pharmacist with a Pharm.D. or Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college. They demonstrate strong clinical knowledge and a commitment to patient-centered care in an ambulatory oncology setting. While hospital pharmacy experience (6 months or more) is preferred , the candidate should excel in accuracy, communication, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.

Working Hours: The working hours are 10:00a - 6:30p. Mon - Fri

Job Competencies
  • Process and review all orders/requests accurately and efficiently, verifying appropriateness.
  • Ensure all medications meet the highest standards in quality, preparation of final dosage form, neatness, and labeling.
  • Produce all types of admixtures and verify accuracy of procedures, labels, and doses before leaving the area.
  • Confirm admixtures meet the highest standards in quality and preparation of the final dosage form.
  • Assess appropriateness of ordered medication considering factors such as:
    • Disease state
    • Body surface area (BSA)
    • Age, height, weight
    • Renal function
  • Utilize clinical information to support pharmaceutical care functions:
    • Order entry
    • Verification
    • Distribution
    • Checking
  • Optimize patient care and customer service by fulfilling operational responsibilities, including staffing beyond shift as needed.
  • Flex schedule across areas and shifts based on operational needs.
  • Provide ACB coverage for Code Blue (requires ACLS certification).

Leadership
  • Supervise technical staff and residents:
    • Complete job assignments
    • Monitor lunch breaks
    • Ensure adherence to institutional policies and procedures
  • Manage workflow efficiently to maintain high productivity.
  • Enforce SOPs and safety standards (USP 797/USP 800/NIOSH) for hazardous drug handling, preparation, and disposal.
  • Report and document chemotherapy spills and product defects.
  • Demonstrate professional communication within the team and with healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and promote team effort.

Technology
  • Understand and effectively use institutional and pharmacy information systems.

Education
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy. or
  • Required: Pharm.D. degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
Work Experience
  • Preferred: Six months experience in a hospital pharmacy.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Required: RPH - Registered Pharmacist Texas State Board of Pharmacy. within 90 Days and
  • Required: BLS - Basic Life Support American Heart Association (AHA). within 30 Days and
  • Required: ACLS - Adv Cardiac Life Support American Heart Association (AHA). If working in one of the following departments: Pharmacy Inpatient (710348), Pharmacy OP ACB (710355), Pharmacy-West Houston (710657), Pharmacy-The Woodlands (710480), Pharmacy-NWH Sur&SP Care (711204). within 90 Days
