Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Corrections Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours (6:00 AM - 6:30 PM) Experience: 2+ years of Correctional Health experience required License: Active Texas or Compact RN license required Certifications: Active BLS certification required Must-Have: - Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment - Disclosure of any previous employment history in profile Description: The Registered Nurse is a licensed professional responsible for coordinating patient care delivery by the healthcare team. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses patients and identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems. The RN develops and implements individualized plans of care and evaluates patients' responses. Knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment is essential to assist patients in transitioning through healthcare encounters without preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions to healthcare personnel based on the Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition, and the competencies of staff. Care will be provided in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plans of care, and clinical area-specific standards. Continuous assessment and consultation with other team members as required is a key responsibility. The RN provides nursing care that demonstrates patient-centered and patient-valued focus. Independent judgment is exercised in delivering nursing care. Effective interpersonal skills, basic computer literacy, and written communication skills are required. The RN must communicate effectively with patients. Knowledge of nursing standards of care for specialty care areas is important as applicable. Responsibilities include: - Performing medication passes - Assessment of healthcare requests - Withdrawal assessments - Insulin administration - Wound care - Clinic visits - Rounding - EC submissions
