Job Purpose:

The Data Quality Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, performance, and reliability of Power BI reports and dashboards. This role requires experience in data validation, test automation, and working with data quality tools like ICEDQ. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with business analysts, developers, and data engineers to verify end-to-end data flows and ensure the business can trust its data insights.

Key Responsibilities:

Power BI Testing & Validation:

• Develop and execute detailed test plans for Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Validate report functionalities including data accuracy, drill-through, filters, and visual interactions.
• Coordinate with developers to resolve data inconsistencies and display issues.

Data Quality Management:

• Utilize ICE DQ tools to validate data completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
• Create reusable ICEDQ SQL artifacts for mapping and data validation during migrations.
• Investigate data discrepancies across source systems like Snowflake and resolve issues.

Automation & Performance Testing:

• Design and implement end-to-end automation using Playwright (and optionally Selenium or Cypress).
• Automate regression and performance tests for Power BI interfaces.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.

Team Collaboration:

• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning and retrospectives.
• Document all test cases, scenarios, defects, and resolutions clearly.
• Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and QA teams to ensure test coverage meets business goals.

Continuous Improvement:

• Recommend tools, practices, and improvements to streamline testing and automation efforts.
• Keep up with emerging BI technologies, cloud integrations, and QA practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5–10 years of experience as a QA Engineer or Data Tester, particularly with Power BI.
• Strong skills in SQL for data querying and validation (especially with Snowflake).
• Expertise in test automation using Playwright (Selenium is a plus).
• Experience with large datasets and embedded BI reports.
• Familiarity with Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Attention to detail and solid troubleshooting capabilities.

Preferred Skills:

• Hands-on experience with ICE Data Quality (ICEDQ) tools.
• Previous work in ETL/Data Migration Testing environments.
• Industry experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Benefits/401k .
• Experience with BI platforms like Tableau, QlikView, or similar.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP and their integration with BI tools.
