Project Accountant - Bilingual Preferred (Onsite)

The Project Accountant is responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, funding agreements, and organizational policies. This role provides accurate and timely financial reporting, supports audits, and partners with project leadership to ensure effective fiscal management.
Job Description
- Develop and maintain timely, accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP and funding requirements.
- Manage month-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Conduct regular variance analysis between budget, actual, and forecasted results.
- Prepare forecasts and financial reports to support project, corporate, and board decision-making.
- Develop, implement, and monitor compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
- Prepare and provide documentation for audits, liaising with corporate staff, board members, and external auditors.
- Ensure all financial transactions are documented with complete and accurate supporting information.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and inventory accounting.
- Reconcile bank accounts and monitor cash flow.
- Manage the acquisition and tracking of capital assets.
- Ensure financial and personnel records are secure and maintained in compliance with company and contractual requirements.
- Monitor and manage grant expenditures in compliance with policy and funding guidelines.
- Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for the funding customer and project leadership.
- Support annual budget preparation in consultation with the Project Director and/or Regional Director.
- Provide financial insight and analysis to support project performance and funding compliance.
- Assist with payroll processing by reviewing timesheets, ensuring accuracy of labor allocations, and supporting compliance with organizational policies and funding requirements.
- Liaise with the Funding Customer, Project Director, corporate support staff, and other managers within the organization.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, accounting, finance or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years accounting experience.
- Must have demonstrated Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), be able to interpret balance sheets and profit/loss reports, and write and implement financial management policies and procedures.
- Must be able to budget and forecast across multiple funding streams and communicate the contract’s financial position.
- Proficient computer skills and ability to use general office equipment.
- Must have excellent teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work across all levels of management and staff.
Additional Information
Work Requirements: Extensive standing, sitting, computer, phone, and deskwork required; some kneeling and lifting of up to 50 pounds required; work primarily in a defined office environment with specified hours, although flexible hours including overtime may be required; interacts one on one and in groups with individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds.
25% travel within Dallas County
Position is an Exempt position.
Yearly salary for the position is: $85,000.00.
