IT Systems and Network Administrator
Sinopec Tech Houston LLC is seeking a hands-on IT Systems & Network Administrator to support the daily operations and maintenance of core IT systems and network infrastructure at our Houston R&D center. This role is responsible for maintaining virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), network and server systems, user identity services, and source code management platforms, while coordinating with third-party providers and Sinopec headquarters IT teams as needed. The ideal candidate has practical experience in enterprise systems and network administration, Active Directory management, and vendor coordination. Essential Functions:
- Administer and maintain VDI servers and user virtual desktop environments, including routine monitoring, troubleshooting, user support coordination, and communication with external service providers.
- Monitor the status of the company’s dedicated network line to Hong Kong; identify connectivity or performance issues and coordinate with service providers for troubleshooting and resolution.
- Perform routine inspection, monitoring, and maintenance of Commvault storage servers and other system servers; coordinate with vendors for maintenance support and issue resolution.
- Maintain and support corporate office network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues to ensure stable and secure office network services.
- Maintain firewall rules, VPN configurations, and related network security settings in accordance with corporate IT security standards.
- Administer Active Directory (AD) and related identity management tasks, including employee account provisioning, access changes, password resets, and deprovisioning.
- Support user identity and access management processes to ensure proper authorization and account security.
- Administer and maintain source code management platforms, including SVN, GitLab, and TFS, and support routine account, access, and system maintenance tasks.
- Perform routine system and server health checks, document incidents and configuration changes, and assist with coordination of technical support activities with Sinopec headquarters IT teams and external vendors.
- Assist with internal IT documentation, standard operating procedures, and technical records to support operational continuity and compliance.
- Working knowledge of enterprise network administration (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewall, VPNs, wireless).
- Hands-on experience with server monitoring and systems administration.
- Experience with VDI environments and user virtual desktop support.
- Familiarity with storage backup systems and enterprise server maintenance; experience with Commvault is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Active Directory administration, including user account provisioning, access management, and password reset support.
- E xperience managing source code repositories (SVN, GitLab, TFS) is a plus.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with third-party service providers for troubleshooting, maintenance, and support.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documenting technical procedures, incidents, and system changes.
- Ability to work independently and in a small team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in both English and Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of professional experience in systems administration, network administration, or enterprise IT operations.
- Experience working with vendors or service providers preferred.
- Relevant certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Microsoft) are a plus.
- Experience in global or distributed IT environment is a plus.
- Occasional off-hours support for system maintenance or incident response.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
