projekt202, a consortium of industry leading designers, user-experience experts and user-interface developers, is seeking Austin-based UI designers to help us improve the usability and enjoy-ability of the world's largest and most notable software products.

Please note that temporary employees and freelance contractors are currently sought, with the good potential for future hire. All candidates must live in Austin or soon be relocating to the Austin area � no exceptions.

Candidates must demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in one or both of the areas of emphasis detailed below.

Software UI Designer: Interaction Design Focus

Do you architect screens in your sleep? Know what makes a combo box "combo?" Feel it's your duty as a good citizen to not only point out broken objects and processes, but to also offer tactful suggestions for improvement?

Requirements:

• 2+ years interaction design experience.
• Concrete understanding of UI design principles, especially as related to the design of interfaces for desktop, web and wireless applications.
• Demonstrable understanding of standard UI controls/widgets, their appropriate use, plus vision for how and when to improve upon them.
• Strong and fearless IA skills.
• Ability to analyze clients' usability challenges and strategize solutions to improve their products and their processes.
• Good awareness of trends in visual design/graphics and ability to design innovative solutions that help our clients stay ahead of the curve.
• Mastery of design applications such as PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign and Visio.
• Ability to get around in HTML (please note this is not an HTML-intensive position, but basic-to-intermediate coding skills are required).
• Knowledge of capabilities and constraints when designing for C++, Java, Web technologies (HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, etc.), plus hardware platform limitations including wireless devices and PCs.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, comfort working directly with clients.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to have fun, take a break now and then, hold your own in darts, and find solace in the chaotic.

Software UI Designer: Visual Innovation Focus

Whose UI totally knocks your socks off? Whose makes you want to kick a wall? What do you consider the top 5 biggest software trends since Shawn Fanning got the shaft? Mac or Windows -- or Linux?

Our visual designers help give clients The Look. They know what's happening, what's good, and how to spot possibility in UI constraints.

Requirements:

• 2+ years or equivalent educational experience designing for digital media with demonstrable UI-specific design experience within desktop, web, and wireless application environments.
• Ability to conceptualize and efficiently illustrate multiple design directions based on an understanding of UI design principles, especially as related to software products.
• Ability to create pixel-specific artwork, and produce and write UI specifications.
• Detailed eye, technical-design skill and experience working in a fast-paced production environment.
• Excellent design portfolio demonstrating your work as principal designer on multiple UI projects.
• Mastery of design applications such as PhotoShop, Image Ready, Illustrator, InDesign and Visio. Flash and Director experience a plus.
• Ability to get around in HTML (please note this is not an HTML-intensive position, but basic-to-intermediate coding skills are required).
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, comfort working directly with clients.
