Registered Dental Assistant
AOS is seeking an amazing person to serve as Oral Surgery Assistant, and be on the front lines of a busy, world-class orthognathic practice. We are seeking someone organized with a positive disposition. This is a fast-paced demanding role as AOS is a highly sought after practice with high volume. AOS is one of the busiest practices in the city of Houston and well-known for our methods in jaw surgery worldwide.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Register patients for surgery.
- Verify insurances.
- Assess patients' medical history and current status.
- Assist the surgery scheduling staff in verifying the eligibility of patients for a given surgery.
- Distribute forms to patients and gather information from them regarding pre-surgery instructions.
- Communicate with physician's office staff regarding pending surgical procedures.
- Communicate with clinic and hospital staff regarding patient's concerns.Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the oral surgeon with a variety of surgical procedures, including but not limited to: dental implants, wisdom teeth extractions, bone grafting, and jaw surgery.
- Prepare treatment rooms for procedures by sterilizing equipment, setting up instruments, and ensuring that all necessary supplies are readily available.
- Greet patients, review their medical history, and explain the surgical process to them in a clear and compassionate manner.
- Monitor patients' vital signs during surgery and alert the oral surgeon to any concerns or changes in condition.
- Provide post-operative instructions and educate patients on proper aftercare procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including sterilizing instruments and disposing of biohazardous waste.
- Communicate with other members of the dental team to ensure that patient care is coordinated and efficient.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as a Dental Assistant or Oral Surgery Assistant preferred.
- Previous experience working in a dental or oral surgery setting strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and surgical procedures.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients and provide compassionate care.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
