Clinical Pharmacist – Emergency Department | Level 1 Trauma Center

Location: On-site | Fort Sam Houston, TX 78208
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM CT
Compensation: $57.69–$67.30/hour + $5K–$10K Sign-On Bonus Our client, a healthcare organization supporting a military base, is seeking an experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join its Emergency Department team at a Level 1 Trauma Center. This role offers the opportunity to practice in a high-acuity environment while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary clinical teams. What You’ll Do
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize medication therapy
  • Provide direct patient care, including treatment assessments and medication management
  • Respond to Level 1 trauma activations, code blue events, and massive blood transfusion emergencies
  • Monitor and manage drug therapies, including pharmacokinetics, renal and hepatic dosing, and antibiotic stewardship
  • Interpret and verify medication orders, ensuring accurate dispensing and documentation
  • Facilitate discharge planning and provide patient medication education
  • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of clinical protocols
  • Provide drug information and therapeutic guidance to healthcare professionals
  • Monitor adverse drug reactions, polypharmacy, and high-dose medication risks
What You Bring
Required
  • Residency & Experience (one of the following):
  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency and an ASHP-accredited PGY2 in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care Pharmacy
    OR
  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency plus 3 years of practical clinical experience in Emergency Medicine, with BPS board certification
  • Current, unrestricted Texas pharmacist license
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Ability to meet ASHP-Qualified Residency Preceptor standards within one year of employment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college or university
  • Valid driver’s license Preferred
    • Board certification
    • Prior inpatient pharmacy experience
    Working Conditions
    • On-site role within a medical facility
    • Driving may be required
