About Houston

ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Media Relations Advisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and enhancing the company's public image through effective media relations strategies. This role involves building and maintaining relationships with media outlets, crafting compelling press releases, and coordinating media events.

What you will do

  • Develop and implement media relations strategies to enhance the company's public image
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets
  • Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communications materials
  • Coordinate and manage media events, including press conferences, interviews, and media tours
  • Monitor media coverage and provide regular reports to senior management
  • Respond to media inquiries and act as the company's spokesperson when necessary
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all communications channels
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in media relations

About you

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in media relations or a similar role
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with experience in AP style writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with media professionals
  • Skilled in interpreting technical subjects and conveying them in an accessible manner to a diverse audience
  • Influential communicator, capable of persuading and guiding without direct authority
  • Quick comprehension and articulation of complex topics
  • Keen interest and understanding of matters pertaining to energy, economics, the environment, corporate responsibility, and government affairs
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset, cultural sensitivity, and familiarity with the dynamics of a vast, global enterprise
