Our Houston-based client is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support a high-volume payroll operation with a strong emphasis on prevailing wage compliance . This position will focus primarily on payroll processing for both hourly and salaried employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payroll execution.
This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys the processing side of payroll and has experience navigating complex wage requirements and compliance regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process multi-state payroll for hourly and salaried employees
- Ensure accurate calculation and payment of prevailing wages
- Review payroll data for accuracy, compliance, and completeness
- Audit payroll records and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Support payroll reporting and payroll-related audits
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and operations teams to ensure payroll accuracy
- Assist with payroll inquiries and issue resolution as needed
Qualifications
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience
- Experience processing multi-state payroll
- Strong knowledge of prevailing wage requirements and compliance
- Hands-on experience with SAP Payroll
- Understanding of payroll taxes, wage garnishments, deductions, and related regulations
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting large employee populations
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus
- Experience within construction, engineering, manufacturing, or other industries utilizing prevailing wage payroll
