The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center plays a critical leadership role within the PCPF-O&M department, supporting continuous, mission-critical operations across a complex healthcare environment. The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor provides direct supervision to skilled craft and maintenance technicians during weekend night operations, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment, infrastructure, and utility systems that directly support patient care.

The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor balances hands-on field leadership with administrative oversight to maintain system uptime and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate is an experienced healthcare facilities professional with prior supervisory or lead experience in facilities maintenance. This individual brings a strong safety mindset, hands-on leadership approach, and the ability to supervise cross-trade maintenance teams while managing administrative responsibilities. Experience with HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems, regulatory compliance, documentation, and contractor coordination is preferred, along with the ability to work consistent weekend night shifts and make real-time operational decisions.

Salary range: Minimum Salary $92,500.00 - Midpoint Salary $115,500.00 - Maximum Salary $138,500.00
The typical work schedule is Saturdays/Sundays: 7:00pm-7:30am and Mondays/Tuesdays: 11:00pm-7:30am. The work week ends every Wednesday at 7:30am.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision & Leadership

Supervise daily workload of craft and maintenance technicians
Schedule work, manage shift coverage, and coordinate hand-off of backlog to subsequent supervisors
Manage employee workload, document staff and team performance, and oversee metrics management
Provide input and assessment on hiring, evaluations, and promotions
Ensure employees complete all required training and meet assigned goals

Maintenance Operations

Ensure safe maintenance, repair, and replacement of plant equipment and systems
Supervise preventive maintenance processes for infrastructure and utility systems
Improve PM processes and frequencies to increase productivity and effectiveness
Supervise work order status and ensure accurate labor and materials documentation

Compliance, Safety & Emergency Response

Lead building emergency response efforts during assigned shifts
Serve as essential personnel for all emergency-related events
Maintain inspection, maintenance, documentation, and drawings for the medical gas system
Support Joint Commission compliance and regulatory documentation

Financial & Contract Management

Monitor service contracts and negotiate with vendors and contractors
Manage assigned operating budget within a ±2% variance
Manage overtime to remain within established guidelines

Planning, Coordination & Energy Initiatives

Plan and consult on repairs, remodeling, and construction projects when assigned
Work closely with the Planner/Scheduler and WCC team
Track workload, schedule compliance, and asset management
Provide lead support for the Energy Initiative

EDUCATION
  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required: 5 years In one or more craft areas including three years lead/supervisory experience.

Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.

Preferred: Ability to work within the Microsoft Windows environment and experience working within a CMMS environment.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Preferred: TDL - Texas Drivers License Valid Class A, B or C Texas driver's license and eligible to drive State and institutional vehicles. Upon Hire
  • Preferred: Journeyman's license in one craft. Upon Hire
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
