POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Asphalt Screed Operator to play a critical role in our paving operations. In this position, you will be responsible for controlling the screed on the asphalt paver to ensure proper depth, grade, and smoothness of the asphalt mat. Your skill and precision will directly impact the quality and finish of each project, contributing to the successful delivery of high-performance roadways and infrastructure.

JOB DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS:

• Operate and control the screed on asphalt paving equipment to ensure proper thickness, grade, and finish.
• Work closely with the paver operator to maintain consistent paving speed and material flow.
• Adjust screed settings to meet project specifications and site conditions.
• Monitor mat quality and make real-time adjustments to ensure smoothness and uniformity.
• Assist with setup and calibration of paving equipment prior to operations.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of screed components.
• Communicate effectively with foreman, operators, and crew members to maintain efficient workflow.
• Ensure adherence to project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
• Participate in daily safety meetings and weekly toolbox talks.
• Train and assist laborers or less experienced crew members as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Must have valid driver's license with positive driving history.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

KNOWLEDGE:

• Thorough understanding of asphalt paving operations and screed functionality.
• Knowledge of grade control, slope, and material behavior.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Familiarity with screed setup, adjustments, and maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of experience operating a screed on asphalt paving projects.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
• Ability to travel and work out of town when required.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license required.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Comfortable working outdoors in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
• Capable of climbing on and off paving equipment safely.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and boots.

Travel within Oklahoma and North Texas is required.
