Chef Fermin Nunez and the kitchen team are creating a menu inspired by traditional Mexican cooking techniques, featuring local Texas ingredients and house-made masa/tortillas. Our bar program is agave and succulent spirit-focused, with an eclectic, well-curated wine and beer list. Suerte is located at 1800 E. 6th St. in the heart of East Austin and has been a beloved part of our community since opening in March 2018. Our service is rooted in genuine hospitality for each other and our guests, and we are looking for team-oriented people with a positive attitude and a passion for food. Our restaurant is high-volume and fast-paced, and we are looking for team members who can match this energy and enjoy working with new ingredients. We work with numerous local farms (and have our own farm) to source our produce and proteins, enabling us to adjust our menu accordingly with the changing seasons. Cooks will be able to work with changing ingredients and engage in conversation about the products they are working with. We nixtamalize and grind Texas heirloom corn for our masa every day, and apply Mexican cooking techniques to local ingredients.


We are seeking qualified applicants with:

  • A minimum of one year of kitchen experience in a high-standard, high-volume restaurant.

  • The ability to follow directions, multitask, and communicate with teammates as well as chefs.

  • The desire to maintain their station effectively and with cleanliness

  • The desire to help others and bring positivity and creativity to the table

  • The ability to accurately prepare and execute menu items

  • Familiarity or an excitement to work with local seasonal produce

    • We have our own farm behind Este with fresh produce, which we regularly incorporate into our menu

Basic Qualifications:

  • Comfortable lifting and carrying trays, dishes, supplies, goods, and moving tables and chairs (up to 50 lbs)

  • Enjoy being active standing, walking, and moving around during your shift

  • Willing to bend, reach, and restock to help keep things running smoothly

  • Take pride in a clean, professional appearance with proper uniform and grooming

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States

Interview Process:

  • Interview with two managers

  • Stage in the position for a few hours this is to determine for both parties if we re mutually a good fit. Your stage is non-compensable, but we will provide a snack at the end of your shift, as well as an explanation of what to expect from us in the coming days
