Summary
The Coleman Group, Inc. is seeking a GIS Enterprise Implementation Specialist/Consultant with a focus on Linux environments to assist with an important project. This role is vital in supporting our mission to provide effective IT solutions that meet our clients' needs and exceed expectations.
The Role
We are seeking a GIS Enterprise Implementation Specialist (Linux Focus) on site in Portland, TX for an initial period with the potential for a longer-term opportunity. Our Client is deploying a new ArcGIS Enterprise environment on Linux-based servers. This role requires strong Linux expertise combined with ArcGIS Enterprise configuration skills to validate installations, optimize performance, and ensure secure, scalable operations.
Duration
Initial 3–4 months period with the potential for a longer-term opportunity.
Responsibilities Include:
· Validate ArcGIS Enterprise architecture on Linux servers
· Provide guidance during Linux-based installation and configuration
· Configure Portal, ArcGIS Server, and Data Store; federate servers
· Optimize Linux server settings for GIS performance
· Recommend and configure DBMS (PostgreSQL or SQL Server)
· Create and manage Enterprise Geodatabases with branch versioning and attribute rules
· Deliver best practices for publishing and workflow optimization
· Conduct system validation and provide staff training
· Other duties as assigned
Required Technical Expertise
· Advanced Linux administration for enterprise GIS deployments
· ArcGIS Enterprise configuration on Linux (Portal, Server, Data Store)
· Shell scripting for automation and troubleshooting
· Proficiency in Linux security hardening and patching
· PostgreSQL/SQL Server tuning for GIS on Linux
· Performance optimization and ArcGIS Monitor
· SAML/LDAP integration with Portal
· Publishing workflows and caching strategies
· ArcGIS SDK, REST API, Python scripting
· Experience Builder Developer Edition and custom widgets
· Real-time GIS (GeoEvent, Velocity)
· Experience with Linux clustering or high-availability setups
· Knowledge of containerization (Docker) or virtualization for GIS
· Familiarity with Linux-based security compliance standards
Soft Skills
· Excellent communication and documentation abilities
· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset
· Ability to train and transfer knowledge to technical and non-technical staff
Must be able to work onsite in Portland, TX for approximately three to four months.
