Registered Respiratory Therapist RRT Pediatrics

We are seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a passion for pediatrics to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team and support our growing pediatric and neonatal population.
In this role, the Registered Respiratory Therapist RRT Pediatrics will provide high-quality respiratory care to infants, children, and adolescents in a variety of acute care settings, including pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, emergency department, and general pediatric units. The therapist will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care plans in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Daily responsibilities will include performing comprehensive respiratory assessments, initiating and managing mechanical ventilation, administering aerosolized medications and oxygen therapy, performing airway clearance techniques, and responding rapidly to respiratory emergencies and codes.
The pediatric RRT will interpret arterial blood gases and other diagnostic tests, adjust ventilator and respiratory support parameters based on clinical status and established protocols, and document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record. The therapist will also participate in invasive and noninvasive procedures such as intubation support, extubation readiness assessments, noninvasive ventilation (CPAP/BiPAP/HFNC) setup and monitoring, and assist with transport of critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients requiring specialized respiratory support.
Education and family-centered care are central to this position. The RRT will provide bedside education to patients and caregivers on respiratory conditions, home care equipment, inhaler and nebulizer technique, and disease management strategies for conditions such as asthma, bronchiolitis, and chronic lung disease of prematurity. The therapist will collaborate closely with nursing, physicians, case management, and respiratory leadership to support safe discharges and continuity of care.
As part of St. David’s culture of excellence and teamwork, the pediatric RRT will actively participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice projects, and hospital safety programs. The therapist will adhere to infection prevention standards, ensure proper operation and cleaning of respiratory equipment, and contribute to the development and review of respiratory care protocols specific to pediatric and neonatal populations.
