The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of duties across various trades including plumbing, electrical, sheetrock, cleaning, painting, flooring, carpentry, concrete repair, and other related work. This individual must be able to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial Restaurant/Retail facilities and equipment. Experience working on hot side restaurant equipment is highly preferred. Technicians must be responsible, trustworthy, and personable toward clients and teammates, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on commercial Restaurant/Retail facilities and equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on hot side restaurant equipment , including but not limited to fryers, griddles, ovens, ranges, steam tables, and other commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled (emergency) repairs. Response is required for emergency service requests after hours and on weekends.
  • Receive electronic work orders and verbal instructions from the manager.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair items such as water heaters, faucets, drains, outlets, switches, toilets and urinals, partitions, doors, locks, lighting, shelving, sheetrock, cove base, tile, resinous flooring systems, and more.
  • Service every trade except HVAC and roofing.
  • Travel to regional facilities and maintain stock of materials, tools, and equipment on the company's vehicle.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas and service vehicles.
  • Communicate closely with Account Managers and Coordinators throughout the day.
  • Provide before and after photos of all work performed along with detailed written descriptions of all work completed and materials used.
  • Perform assessments on work orders that require quotes and provide complete, detailed written descriptions of all work needed, including required materials.
  • Arrive on time with a presentable and professional appearance.
  • Some out-of-town travel may be requested periodically for larger projects.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in commercial maintenance or construction.
  • Proven experience in a hands-on mechanical or maintenance environment.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical, structural, plumbing, and electrical systems with the ability to troubleshoot and repair.
  • Experience in commercial Restaurant/Retail maintenance is preferred, including painting, sheetrock repair, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining hot side restaurant equipment (such as fryers, ovens, grills, griddles, steamers, warmers, and similar commercial cooking equipment) is highly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills using proper technical terminology.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while taking ownership and responsibility for completed work with attention to detail.
  • Proficient with a wide variety of hand and power tools and able to quickly adapt to new tools and equipment.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must be available to work a demanding schedule including long hours, occasional overnight work, and rotating on-call weekends.
  • Ability to frequently kneel, bend, squat, push, pull, reach, and occasionally lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
  • Must have a reliable smartphone and be proficient in using mobile applications.
  • High school diploma/GED or trade school equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
