Responsible Master Plumber
A Responsible Master Plumber is responsible for the general supervision and management of plumbing work performed under contracts secured under his or her license. General supervision and management includes obtaining all necessary permits and requesting all inspections as required by applicable plumbing or building codes; ensuring that all individuals performing plumbing work hold a current license or registration; ensuring that a license is present and providing direct supervision at all job sites where one or more registrants are engaged in plumbing and ensuring that all service vehicles display the company name and the Responsible Master Plumbers license credentials.
Job Responsibilities
Oversee the installation and maintenance of underground piping systems.
Ensure compliance with local plumbing codes and regulations.
Conduct inspections to identify and resolve potential issues in utility systems.
Supervise and train plumbing staff on best practices and safety protocols.
Collaborate with engineers and contractors on project planning and execution.
Manage project budgets and timelines to ensure efficient resource allocation.
Utilizes trade knowledge to ensure work is effectively and efficiently completed, and that all installed equipment conforms to code
Expected to have thorough knowledge and experience working with various piping materials such as steel, cast iron, ductal iron, PVC, copper, glass, CPVC, various kinds of plastic tubing, and insulation materials
As the expert troubleshooter, uses a variety of tools and devices to diagnose problems and restore service
Qualifications for a Responsible Master Plumber
You must be currently licensed as a Master Plumber in Texas
You must be in good standing with the TSBPE
A general understanding of piping practices, drainage systems, and heating equipment
Ability to perform all plumbing maintenance work
General computer skills for word-processing and spreadsheet programs
Ability to read and interpret project plans
