Recruiting Heroes is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Financial Controller for a role in Houston, Texas.
Our client is a VC backed, Climate Tech manufacturing startup. They recently closed a major funding round and are commencing full scale commercial production of their innovative product, one that will play a key role in the transition to net zero. They are expanding their finance & accounting team to position ourselves for success as we continue our rapid growth. Based at their global headquarters in Houston, TX, you will be a key member of the management team and play a critical role in shaping the company's financials. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be responsible for managing their financial operations, providing leadership to the accounting team, and overseeing our organizations financial reporting, compliance and tax functions. - Financial Reporting: Prepare and oversee the production of accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Technical Accounting: Internal expert at interpreting and applying accounting rules and guidance related to manufacturing companies (inventory, cost accounting, lease accounting etc.)
- Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial statements
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements, and coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process.
- Stakeholder Reporting: Prepare financial reporting packages for senior management, board of directors, investors, lenders and other stakeholders
- Financial Operations: Manage financial operations including Billing, GL, AR, AP, Payroll and Month End close.
- Inventory Accounting: Oversee inventory accounting and valuation methods, and monitor inventory levels.
- Tax Reporting: Manage sales and income tax reporting requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in relevant field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience with a manufacturing company
- Expertise with top tier ERP system (e.g. SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, MS Dynamics)
- Inventory and cost accounting experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of GAAP.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
