Under general supervision, sets up and operates one or more of the following machines: surface / Electrochemical grinder (ECG), lathe, mills, Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM), CNC machine, or other machines to perform diversified machining operation on blades, vanes, shrouds, and other components of turbine jet engines.

• Work Environment: The GE Aerospace facility in McAllen is one of our centers of expertise specializing in the repair of engine components used in commercial and military aircraft. Essential Responsibilities

• Work from process instruction sheets, drawings, and technical documents to ensure product quality.
• Utilize general and specialized knowledge to perform tasks that meet all quality assurance standards.
• Measure work using scales, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, surface plates, and surface testers.
• Ensure smooth product flow in the repair process.
• Set up, adjust, verify programming, and operate CNC machines to perform complex operations on a diverse line of work.
• Maintain close tolerances and surface finishes as required.
• Operate CNC machines of various types and brands.
• Maintain a clean work area and assist in department housekeeping efforts.
• Adhere to all safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out, reporting safety concerns, using appropriate PPE, and following all safety practices.
• Assist in training new associates.

Qualifications/Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associate's college degree in Manufacturing Technology related program; or 24 college credit hours in manufacturing technology related program; or c ompletion of a CNC Operator Apprenticeship with a minimum of 288 hours; or hold a National Institute of Metal Working Skills - CNC Mill Operator CAR certification; or 1+ years of prior CNC machine operator experience
• Willing and able to work overtime and any shift.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English; interpret and follow written procedures (e.g., Aviation Work Instructions), complete documentation (e.g., routers), and follow verbal instructions.
• Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as scales, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, surface plates, and surface testers.
• This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.
