Role Summary

Captains are lead service professionals responsible for owning the guest journey for their section and helping shape the energy of the room. This is not simply a server role. This is a leadership role on the floor.

A strong Captain knows how to read a table, guide a pace, communicate with restraint, and support the room beyond just their own section. Captains are expected to model professionalism, composure, and accountability.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead service for a section from greeting through farewell
• Guide guests through menu, pacing, and service flow with confidence and clarity
• Maintain command of timing, awareness, and table needs throughout service
• Work closely with kitchen, managers, and service team to ensure smooth execution
• Support guest recovery and problem-solving professionally
• Set service tone and example for junior team members
• Participate in pre-service preparation, menu training, and standards upkeep
• Help maintain a dining room that feels warm, polished, and in control

Ideal Background

• Prior fine dining or upscale service experience strongly preferred
• Experience with chef-driven restaurants, tasting menus, or luxury hospitality is a plus
• Wine knowledge and comfort discussing pairings is a plus
• Strong communication skills and emotional intelligence required
