Superintendent - Tree Care

Southern Botanical is hiring a full-time Tree Care Superintendent to join our team in Fort Worth, TX. In this role, you’ll lead and support the crews working on client sites, with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, quality, and equipment management.

As Tree Care Superintendent, you'll be responsible for ensuring projects are completed professionally, safely, on time, and within budget—all while meeting company performance goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee teams that conduct pruning and removals, stump grinding, Plant Health Care services, tree cabling, tree bracing and tree anchoring, including daily site visits
  • Manage crews daily for optimization of performance, efficiency, safety, and quality of work
  • Plan and organize daily work to ensure all crews are prepared and operating safely
  • Provide guidance, constructive feedback, and hold teams accountable for performance
  • Ensure equipment is maintained for safety and effectiveness
  • Lead weekly training sessions with crews discussing seasonal items and reiterating all safety policies and procedures
  • Work with internal and external clients to ensure quality on their respective properties
  • Create seasonal forecasting for operations and labor needs
  • Support the business development team with occasional bidding insight
  • Manage labor and other metrics to achieve monthly revenue goals and target profits
  • Initiate and complete all required jobs, with information updates in system within the established time frames
  • Manage material and chemical inventory efficiently within TDA regulations
  • Conduct thorough and timely annual reviews for direct reports
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required

Requirements:

  •  3–5 years of field experience in tree care or landscape management services required
  • ISA Certified Arborist or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • 1–3 years of tree climbing experience required
  • Prior management and/or project management experience required
  • Proficiency in Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Strong communication skills; bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
  • Experience with Aspire, Azuga, or other cloud-based technology platforms preferred
  • Valid state driver’s license required
  • Current TDA Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Urban Forestry, Agronomy, or a related field preferred
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift/carry materials up to 30 lbs., move about the work site, communicate efficiently and effectively on the telephone or in person, and complete required paperwork. Exposure to dust, pollen, chemicals, cold, and heat in an external environment. Requires extended periods of walking, standing, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, and lifting to 30% of the day. Work in the office approximately 25-50% of the time.

Working Conditions

Standard indoor office environment and exterior environment dealing with all weather and all terrain exposure. Safety equipment includes, but is not limited to hard hats, gloves, earplugs, safety vests, and safety glasses. This position requires the ability to work during inclement weather events.
